Yes! BOROUX uses the same gravity filtration principle with improved materials and construction. Many former Berkey customers say the water quality is equal or better, with the added benefit of responsive US-based customer service and a company that's been in business for 25 years. Our systems are also HSA/FSA eligible.
BOROUX is NSF/ANSI 42, 401, and 372 certified, plus WQA Gold Seal certified.
All systems are HSA/FSA eligible.
The BOROUX gravity-fed Water Filter Systems have one upper chamber and one lower chamber. The BOROUX Foundation filters are installed in the upper chamber (while BOROUX Proactive Fluoride Filters are installed on the bottom side of the upper chamber).
Water is poured into the upper chamber, and then gravity pulls the water down through the BOROUX Foundation Filters and into the lower chamber. Drinking water can then be poured out from the spigot located at the base of the lower chamber.
BOROUX Foundation Filters work by absorbing and trapping contaminant molecules. The carbon attracts and absorbs molecules with a certain chemical charge. They stick to the carbon, like how a magnet attracts metal. The tiny pores of the carbon block are so small that they physically block and trap tiny particles. It's similar to a sieve or strainer.
We recommend cleaning the stainless steel chambers and spigot monthly.
The Foundation Filters should be scrubbed every 3-6 months or when you notice a slower flow rate.
