Compatibility
The BOROUX Proactive Fluoride Filter is an add-on filter located in the lower chamber and must be attached to a filter housed in the upper chamber. They are compatible with the BOROUX Foundation Filter and Black Berkey® Replacement Elements.

The BOROUX Proactive Fluoride Filter attaches to the stem of the BOROUX Foundation Filter and is suspended in the lower chamber.
The water passes through the BOROUX Foundation filter. Then water first comes in contact with the granulated carbon in the inner layer of the fluoride filters.
Then, the water filters through the nano-carbon outer layer. The upflow design of the stainless steel shell, makes the water stay in contact with the outer layer for a prolonged period of time, providing superior filtration.
The filtered water exits the top of stainless steel shell through the outlet holes and into the lower chamber.

A pair of BOROUX Proactive Fluoride Filters should be replaced every 1,000 gallons, which is approximately 6-12 months of use.

- Our fluoride-reducing filters use highly effective filtration media that may impart a mild taste at first.
- As the filters begin working, there's a brief "break-in" period where natural elements from the media may slightly affect the taste.
- After flushing a few gallons through the system, the taste typically neutralizes and your water will return to its clean, crisp flavor.
Tip: For best results, we recommend running 3–5 gallons of water through your system before regular use. This helps rinse the filters and minimize any initial flavor changes.
