The BOROUX Proactive Fluoride Filter is an add-on filter located in the lower chamber and must be attached to a filter housed in the upper chamber. They are compatible with the BOROUX Foundation Filter and Black Berkey® Replacement Elements.

How does the BOROUX Proactive Fluoride Filter work?
The BOROUX Proactive Fluoride Filter attaches to the stem of the BOROUX Foundation Filter and is suspended in the lower chamber.
The water passes through the BOROUX Foundation filter. Then water first comes in contact with the granulated carbon in the inner layer of the fluoride filters.
Then, the water filters through the nano-carbon outer layer. The upflow design of the stainless steel shell, makes the water stay in contact with the outer layer for a prolonged period of time, providing superior filtration.
The filtered water exits the top of stainless steel shell through the outlet holes and into the lower chamber.
Why does my water have a slight taste when first using the BOROUX fluoride filters?
You might notice a subtle earthy or mineral-like taste when first using your new BOROUX fluoride filters—this is completely normal and temporary.
Our filters use high-performance filtration media that may initially impart a harmless taste. To eliminate this, we recommend priming each filter for at least 10 minutes using higher water pressure before installing. In our testing, this method has resolved the taste issue 100% of the time.
For the most effective priming experience, use the blue silicone primer tool included with your filter. It helps fully flush the media and ensures your water tastes clean and crisp from the start.
